Certifications
Regulatory
Most all radio communication devices such as Telit's Wireless Modules, are subject to regulatory compliance certification which vary from country to country. These regulations and their accompanying certification processes also vary according to the type of device. The following are certifications applicable to Telit’s current portfolio of products:

A-tick - The Australian Telecommunications Authority (Austel) were responsible for issuing cabling licenses, equipment permits and monitoring the conduct of license and permit holders for all equipment and components connected to the Australian telephone network. The Spectrum Management Agency (SMA) was the Australian Commonwealth statutory agency responsible for the management of radio communications in Australia. On 1 July 1997, the AUSTEL and SMA merged to form the Australian Communications Authority (ACA). On July 1st 2005, ACA and ABA (Australian Broadcasting Authority) merged to form the ACMA (Australian Communications Media Authority). The ACMA is now responsible for technical regulation, consumer issues and licensing of telecommunications and radio communications in Australia. The A-tick and ACMA supplier code indicates compliance with Australian telecommunications requirements and that the equipment can be legally connected to the Australian Telecommunications Network. ANATEL - The national telecommunications agency in Brazil (Anatel) is an independent organ of the Brazilian ministry of communications established in 1997. The agency is directly responsible for regulating interstate and international telecommunications by radio, wire, satellite and cable. Anatel's jurisdiction covers the entire country of Brazil. |

CE - A European consumer protection program designed to certify that products have met health, safety, and environmental requirements assuring consumer safety. Products must meet CE marking requirements in order to be marketed in Europe. Specifically, compliance with R&TTE, the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive is required for all products in the Telit portfolio. R&TTE was created by the European Union in 1999, and establishes requirements with which Radio and Telecommunications equipment and devices must comply to be sold in Europe. R&TTE product compliance certification is performed by BABT, the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications, which was created in 1982 to regulate telecommunications. In May 1992, BABT issued the first GSM approval and the agency is directly responsible to for certification and regulatory services for the European radio, telecom and IT sectors. |

COFETEL - The federal telecommunications commission in Mexico (COFETEL) is an independent organ of the Mexican secretary of communication and transport established in 1995. The agency is directly responsible for regulating interstate and international telecommunications by radio, wire, satellite and cable. COFETEL's jurisdiction covers the entire country of Mexico. |

CONATEL - The Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CONATEL), is charged by the Organic Law of Telecommunications, with the function of homologating and certifying telecommunication devices so as to guarantee the safety of users and the interoperability among networks and devices in Venezuela. |

CRTC - The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is an independent public authority established in 1968. The CRTC regulates the Canadian broadcasting system, as well as telecommunications common carriers and service providers under federal jurisdiction. |

DGT - The Directorate General of Telecommunications (DGT), Taiwan's telecommunications industry regulatory agency. |

FCC - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions. |

GCF - The Global Certification Forum (GCF) runs an independent certification program to ensure global interoperability. The program's focus is on the interoperability of 2G and 3G mobile wireless devices. |

IC - The Certification and Engineering Bureau of Industrie Canada which provides certification services for both radio and terminal equipment in Canada. Compliance testing for these devices is performed by private sector laboratories. |

ICASA - The Independent Communication Authority of South Africa is a product of statute, The Independent Communication Authority of South Africa Amendment Act of 2000, later amended in 2005. FUNCTIONS OF ICASA: The Authority regulates the telecommunications and broadcasting industries in the public interest. Its key functions are to : make regulations and policies that govern broadcasting and telecommunications issue licenses to providers of telecommunication services and broadcasters monitor the environment and enforce compliance with rules, regulations and policies hear and decide on disputes and complaints brought by industry or members of the public against licensees plan, control and manage the frequency spectrum and protect consumers from unfair business practices, poor quality services and harmful or inferior products. |

KCC - On February 29, 2008, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has been newly embarked after consolidating the former Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) and the Korean Broadcasting Commission (KBC). Korea initiated the reorganization of the government agency responsible for broadcasting and communications policies and regulations, recognizing the fact that the boundary between the broadcasting and communications sector has been blurred. The newly established KCC, under the office of the President, aims to manage broadcasting and communications with full authority, promote the convergence process between broadcasting and telecommunications, as well as mitigate government regulations. The KCC will embrace the core function of the former Korean Broadcasting Commission and the Ministry of Information and Communication, serving as an integrated organization responsible for both policy-making and regulation. |

MIC - MIC: Korea's Certification for information and communication equipment is implemented based on Article 33 of the "Telecommunications Basic Act" and Article 46 and 57 of the "Radio Waves Act." Equipment specified in Article 3 of the "Regulation for Certification of Information and Communication Equipment", must be certified and affixed with the required label in order to manufacture, import or sell. |

NOM - The Normas Oficiales Mexicanas (NOM) Mark is a mandatory consumer protection program requiring that certain products such as cellular devices be certified before they can be sold in Mexico. |

PTCRB - The purpose of the PTCRB is to provide the framework within which GSM Mobile Equipment (ME) Type Certification can take place for members of the PTCRB. This includes, but is not limited to, determination of the test specifications and methods to implement the Type Certification process for GSM Mobile Equipment. This group will also be responsible to generate input regarding testing of Mobile Stations to standards development organizations. |

SRRC - State Radio Regulation Committee (SRRC) of China under the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) is China's regulatory agency for radio and wireless products. |

TK - Within the framework of the general principles defined in Turkey's Radio Law and Telegraph and Telephone Law, preparing the required plans in the telecommunications area and presenting them to the Ministry of Transportation and supervising the related operations of the concerned institutions and establishments as well as real and legal personalities. |
Please note that Telit is constantly certifying its products world-wide. Certifications are sought on a product by product basis as each is introduced into new regional markets. Operators & Service Providers
Mobile Network Operators (MNO) may require, in addition to full regulatory compliance, that devices like the Telit Modules be tested and certified on their networks before activation is permitted. These MNO Certification requirements vary on a regional and service provider basis. Telit has either received or is in the process of obtaining approval for one or more of its modules on one or more of the regional operations of the follwing Network Operators and Service providers.
